This project explores the adaptive reuse of Heron House, a prominent commercial building located within Nuneaton town centre. The existing office accommodation was re-imagined as a contemporary residential development, transforming the upper floors into modern apartments while retaining the active retail frontage at ground level to preserve the building's contribution to the surrounding high street.
The design focuses on creating a more desirable and sustainable urban living environment through the introduction of larger glazed openings, private balconies, rooftop planting, and a refined material palette combining brick, metal, and light-toned façade elements. The visualisation process included an initial massing and greybox development stage, followed by detailed architectural rendering to evaluate scale, materiality, and the relationship between the building and the public realm.
The final concept aims to demonstrate how underutilised town centre office space can be successfully repurposed into high-quality residential accommodation, supporting local regeneration while maintaining the character and commercial vitality of the surrounding area.
